You have the right to feel empowered to reconnect with your heritage language. In addition to our Student Code of Conduct, we encourage you to take the time to learn what racial microaggressions are, how you can prevent them and what to do if you commit a microaggression. Let’s all work together to foster a safe and fun learning environment!

There are many websites that offer advice, but here are our top 2:

  1. MICROAGGRESSIONS PART 1: WHAT ARE THEY, HOW ARE THEY HARMFUL, AND WHAT TO DO IF YOU COMMIT ONE? (From the University of British Columbia).

    • provides succinct examples and definitions

    • provides an informative short clip

    • Reading time: 15 minutes or less

  2. EXAMPLES OF MICROAGGRESSIONS (From the University of Minnesota).

    • provides a great list of examples for us to consider both within and outside the classroom

    • Reading time: 15 minutes

Remember, we’re all in this together. If something is said or done in class that hurts you, please talk to your instructor first.
