Get ready to learn one-on-one on your road to fluency in Japanese!! At Japanese for Nikkei, we offer private lessons for students who want a more individualized learning plan tailored to their specific needs so that they can learn at their preferred pace.
What it’s about:
Private lessons are scheduled for a 4-week period and can be renewed at the end of the contract with one of our experienced and qualified instructors. We offer three different membership tiers:
PLATINUM: 3 hours per week for 4 weeks (1.5-hour sessions twice a week)
GOLD: 2 hours per week for 4 weeks.
SILVER: 1 hour per week for 4 weeks.
How it works:
You will schedule a 15-minute complimentary Zoom call with your preferred instructor to discuss the specificities of your needs and confirm the schedule and cost details. After your call, you will receive a contract. Sign it, and be excited to start your session!
Catherine Sachi Kikuchi (M.A.)
As a translator and language teacher who grew up with both English and Japanese in the household, my top priorities are for students (that’s you!) to gain confidence in speaking and understand the differences that nuance brings so that you are fully prepared for the different situations in which you’ll use Japanese - whether it’s with family or buying shinkansen (bullet train) tickets!

Mimi Okabe (Ph.D.)
I am an award-winning teacher in the Department of East Asian Studies and Modern Languages and Cultural Studies where I teach the Japanese language, translation and literature. I am also a member of the Canadian Association for Japanese Language Education, and excited to support you on your language journey. Let’s start making your dreams into a reality!
